OCALA ? A California man signed his extradition papers in front of judge on Saturday, paving the way for him to be sent back to his home state, where he faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm.

Before signing the papers, Timothy Ravenscroft told Judge Sandra Edwards-Stephens that he wanted to face his charges in California.

The 22-year-old man made his first appearance in front of the judge at the makeshift courtroom at the Marion County Jail.

Dressed in a red and white prison shirt, brown pants ? which means he's on suicide watch ? and flip flops, Ravenscroft told a Star-Banner reporter after the brief hearing that he doesn't know why he's on suicide watch because ?I'm not suicidal.?

Ravenscroft's girlfriend, Lacy Ellis, who accompanied him on the journey from California to Marion County, also made her first appearance in front of the judge.

Charged with accessory after the fact and providing a false name to a law enforcement official, Ellis was told by the judge not to look behind her.

The 20-year-old mother of 2-year-old daughter peeked several times behind her, trying to get the attention of Ravenscroft.

?I want to be with him. I don't think he did it,? Ellis said after her first appearance was over and talking with a Star-Banner reporter. Exiting the courtroom, Ellis blew a kiss at Ravenscroft and said, ?I love you.?

Bond for Ellis was set at $10,500, and her next court date was slated for Jan. 31.

On Dec. 23, detectives in San Bernardino, Calif., said Ravenscroft shot another man who was walking with his girlfriend. The victim, who was taken to a hospital, died the next day.

Since then, detectives have been searching for Ravenscroft.

Marion County sheriff's deputies on Friday received information that the couple was in Marion County.

The duo were later caught by deputies without incident at a rest stop on Friday afternoon and brought to the jail.

In an interview with Ravenscroft on Friday night, though he did not want to discuss the shooting, he said police in California did not want to listen to him and that they only wanted to solve their case.

While on the run, Ravenscroft said he had little sleep and was constantly looking over his shoulder.

His girlfriend said both of them decided to leave California out of concern. She added he has a ?good heart,? and is ?caring.?

Neither Ravenscroft's family nor his girlfriend's family could be reached for comment.
