Tequila Party Responds to letter from Tea Party Representative at ...

As you might already know, the Tequila Party (based out of Arizona?s immigration ground zero) is a counter movement to the Tea party extremists.? Kansas Rep. Charlotte O?Hara recently wrote me a letter and I had to respond to it.? You can view her response to me here.? That said, the National Tequila Party Movement has been working on a national campaign via the COMPACT WITH AMERICA modeling it after the MAYFLOWER COMPACT because we remember our immigrant history. We believe in a healthy and legal discussion when it comes to the immigration issue so we have been supporting Rep. Louis Ruiz?s introduction of the KANSAS COMPACT which she seems to be reluctant to support.

Kansas also happens to be the state in which Kris Kobach resides and he is the legal arm behind many of these anti-immigrant laws.

I write:

Dear Rep. Charlotte O?Hara:

I am in receipt of your letter dated Fri, Feb 17, 2012.? It is unfortunate that you do not realize the need to support a healthy discussion for legal immigration via the KANSAS COMPACT in light of Rep. Virgil Peck?s violent remark when he advocated the shooting of undocumented immigrants like feral hogs.

I understand the law.? I raised my right hand and swore an oath to protect the Constitution of the United States when I willingly enlisted into the Air Force and served honorably during Gulf War I.? And while you swore to protect it, too, as a legislator?.I was willing to die for my country because I believe we are a beacon to the world.? I believe in my heart that we are that Shining City on a Hill, and without our Nation?s love and our compassion ? we are nothing to the rest of the globe.

In your letter to me you wrote:

?In taking that oath the basic underlying strength of our nation is laid bare, the rule of law. ?If, in our immigration laws, we choose to turn a blind eye and allow the complete disregard of existing law, we undermine the very foundation our nation was and is built on.?

I am not advocating turning a blind eye to the existing law.? I am merely asking to fix the broken immigration system in a legal fashion.? Several Republican lawmakers have stated that the United States federal government is screaming to fix the immigration laws and our border.? While your Republican cohorts in Florida have amnesty via the Cuban Adjustment Act, ?the Tequila Party movement is not asking for amnesty for the undocumented.? ??Agricultural farmers across the nation are struggling right now and anti-immigrant laws are costing them billions and billions of dollars.? Kansas farmers and meat packing plant owners have relied on competitive labor that has fueled Kansas into greatness.? Farmers know and understand that Kansas is nothing without immigrant labor and they do not want to learn the painful lesson$ experienced by Arizona, Georgia and Alabama.?? IT IS TIME FOR LEGAL IMMIGRATION REFORM.

You spoke of how our nation was built upon, but you forget about some ugly stains in our American History when Native American Indians had their lives and dignity taken away.? ?In fact, at one time slave labor used to be legal, too, but once it was recognized that legal slave labor was a bad law ? it then changed.? As such, the immigration laws need to be fixed legally and in a way that will benefit Americans and the American economy.

When the immigrants on the Mayflower boat landed, they created in essence the first constitution via the MAYFLOWER COMPACT.? All we are asking for is a fair and reasonable legal immigration solution that can benefit our economy.

You wrote:

?I have been present as a committee member of Federal and State Affairs for this testimony and must say skills I have honed over the years being mother to 7 children?.?

I am a mother, too, and will go so far to say that I am somewhat of a mother to thousands and thousands of other children across the country via our DREAM Act children and youth. ?Several mothers I know are mourning as we speak because they are losing hope. ?Joaquin Luna?s mother is still mourning because her son took his life the day after Thanksgiving Day 2011 because he felt he had no hope either.? ?I am especially disturbed to hear about the immigrant woman who killed herself and her child after being targeted by ICE for arrest recently. Did you know her eleven year old was born in the United States of America.

Hopeless and heart-wrenching stories like the ones I described above may not disturb you ?? but it disturbs me and it is a burning, stabbing heavy burden in my heart.

I recently visited your Kansas Representative page and I could not help but noticed the Christian hypocrisy of what you claim to be for.? While you are out singing at Christian Churches and producing gospel albums singing of love and hope ? ?the fruit of your spirit seems to be one that rules with an iron fist and without compassion.?? What part of ?Love thy Neighbor? don?t you understand?? Didn?t you know that the Jesus you claim to believe in was accused of breaking the law, too, when one of his disciples picked food to eat because he was hungry on the Sabbath?? Didn?t your Jesus you sing about say: ?In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you rendered such services to one of the humblest of these my brethren, you rendered them to myself??

Your website describes you below:

??She performed at the First Christian Church in Forsyth, Missouri.

?..working on my 3rd CD, ?Where Time Touches Eternity?, and beginning to write for the 4th project, ?Angels Unaware.?? I view each song as a gift from GOD to be able to express myself.??

While you boast of doing ?God?s work? in Christian churches, some of us will push for legal immigration a law that comes from compassion and real love for fellow mankind.? We are pushing for a legal solution that can only benefit our nation.

Lastly, it is my understanding you are of Irish descent.? Please note we are in the process of helping our Irish brethren, too, because we know there are thousands and thousands of undocumented Irish immigrants in the northeastern part of the United States such as Massachusetts, New York? and more. ?It is my wish that the ?Angels Make You Aware? to what Providence had in mind in the musical realm.? You see, Charlotte, musicians can have a real positive message and a healing affect on others if true love is in their hearts.

Regards,
