It?s official, last Tuesday Pinterest announced they are open for business! One of the Internet?s fastest growing social media websites has welcomed the option for businesses to create their own accounts. The platform will now legally be available for commercial use, which is great for businesses, considering Pinterest users have increased by 145 percent since the beginning of 2012, and recent research suggests 47 percent of U.S. online consumers have made a purchase based on recommendations from Pinterest. Good idea? We think so.
??Thousands of businesses have become a part of our community, giving great ideas, content, and inspiration to people on Pinterest. Whether it?s Anthropologie sharing awesome cloths, Whole Foods sharing tasty recipes, the Smithsonian sharing fascinating collection, or Amazon making products easy to pin, many of us have been inspired on Pinterest by businesses.?
-Pinterest on Business Pages
Pinterest has made the process easy and quick to start a new business account or convert your personal account. The new business accounts don?t look different than the other Pinterest pages, and the site is offering new features that are available for both personal and business accounts:
Profile widget: This new feature allows you to engage audiences and establish a larger presence of followers by displaying your most recent pins.
?Board widget: This tool allows you to show specific boards that appeal to a targeted audiences and draw them to a particular page or section of ?your website site by highlighting pins on individual boards.
?Along with the new widgets available, Pinterest has provided different examples of case studies done on companies like Allrecipes, Etsy, Jetsetter, Organized Interiors, and Petplan.? Before signing in to create or convert your account you will be able to learn how some of the most followed and repined companies on Pinterest have used different types of marketing strategies to obtain and engage more followers and repins. ?This is just another example of how social media is a fast-paced field and it?s important to keep up to speed with how it?s evolving.
