The Boise St. Broncos remained at the No. 24 spot in the latest AP poll, even after their offense showed nothing in their 7-6 win over the BYU Cougars last week. Despited that ugly game the AP voters reward Boise State by keeping them in the rankings. It does help that Michigan, Arizona and UCLA who were ranked higher than Boise State dropped out of the rankings.
Boise State staying in the rankings is not the biggest surprise, but rather that they actually gained 19 points from various AP voters. Not sure how that happens, unless some just moved them up a spot or two after teams above them lost.
Being a nationally known program for the better part of a decade gives them some respect, and benefit of the doubt over new comers who are trying to crack the polls.
In the USA Today Coaches Poll Boise State is receiving votes and is two spots out of the polls.
